THANKSgiving Day Tablescape

My Thanksgiving tablescape was inspired by my love of neutrals, soft greenery and floral and a need for functionality. I wanted to create a centerpiece that was a showstopper, but not crowd the table with wide plate chargers and overdecorated place settings.

My side of the family is large and we tend to serve our holiday meals buffet style, with delicious foods spread across the kitchen island and our buffet table in the neighboring kitchen/breakfast room from our formal dining room.  I thought it would be easier to keep our serving plates stacked neatly, so I opted for this table arrangement.
I found these gift tags at The Findery in Waco, Texas, where I create store displays. Often times, we get products in that instantly love and I don’t want to give them up!  Like can I keep all the pretty?  These tags had beautiful soft colors and scripted messages.  I knew that they would be cute at a place setting for a holiday table.  I was right!

If you can’t tell, I love decor with words.  When I found these little adorable mini plates in sage green, white and aqua blue that say ‘blessed, grateful, and thankful’ from Marshalls, I had to have them!  I mean sweet little reminders and my favorite colors; yes, please!  And linen napkins from The Findery.  Again, little things to remind me how thankful I am!

So until it is time for turkey, we shall enjoy my husband’s grandmothers beautiful gold rimmed china on our table.  If you have collections that you love or family heirlooms, use them!  Don’t keep them in boxes in the attic!  The real value is in the memories.
So now, lets look at the main event, the centerpiece of the table.  It consists of five floral filled pumpkins on cake stands, vintage silver goblets, and a set of mini pumpkins.
These little white pumpkins are from HEB; yes, the grocery store.  No place is safe from the decorator’s eye.  We are always looking for ways to decorate our home.  If you can not locate these, just use mini pumpkins and a gold paint pen to letter the word of your choice on white pumpkins.

My mother in law and I created these easy DIY floral filled pumpkins.  The pumpkins are hollow and the crafting kind from Michael’s craft store.  We used a large drill bit to make holes in the center of the pumpkins, before filling them with greenery and floral.

I will share a separate blog post with details to create your own floral arrangements in a pumpkin, but it is very similar to my succulent filled planters, previously shared on my blog.

Again, I added the gift tags to each pumpkin for an extra touch of fun and a graphic quality.
I used a set of vintage silver goblets from the thrift store as vases for some ranunculus blooms and dusty miller leaves.   White hydrangeas and lambs ear fill the pumpkins.   I love the look of white flowers all year long!  Florals from Hobby Lobby.

I used cake stands from Target to act as risers for the three pumpkins in the middle of the arrangement.  I used mini wreaths around the base of the cake stand for greenery.  On top of my hutch, I used stacked pumpkins from Marshalls, more greenery in white pitchers from The Findery and a vintage blue and white bowl of hydrangeas.
On the other side of the dining room, I used the chalkboard to add some touches of greenery and hints for dessert – pumpkin pie, my kids’ favorite.
Vintage wooden crates from antique stores are filled with pumpkins and greenery.  I placed a small blanket in the crate first to create height, before adding the pumpkins and greenery.  I just love the blue and white pumpkins from Micheal’s and my pillow cover from Linen and Ivory.
If you like a more monochromatic look, you can scatter mini pumpkins around the centerpiece or keep it simple with your floral filled pumpkins.  It would look like this…
I love the touch of gold and ‘THANKS’ to remind me of blessings in my life. Thank you for checking out my blog!  Keep scrolling for my holiday inspiration…
