Summer Decor Home Tour
Welcome to the Summer Decor Home Tour! If you came from Kylie’s blog at Truman’s Treasures, I know that you found lots of beautiful inspiration to decorate this season. At the end of the post, you can visit additional blogs for more creative ideas to decorate inside and outside of your home!
But first, here’s how I add coastal touches to my living room. Plus, a simple DIY that you can do this weekend!

Coastal Inspired Summer Decor
My favorite place to vacation during the summer will always be the beach. Therefore, I love adding coastal decor into my home, especially during the summertime. From weathered woods and chippy painted furniture to blue stripes and collected seashells, my home is truly a collection of things that I love.

Tips to add Coastal Summer Decor into your Home
- Let there be light! Open the curtains and welcome the sunshine inside for a spacious feel.
- Display natural elements like driftwood or weathered wood, shells, or lots of green plants.
- Use a beach inspired color palette: bright white, warm tans, light blues and muted greens.
- Add woven textures like jute rugs, rattan baskets, bamboo chairs, or wicker tables.
- Choose art and accessories with subtle nautical or coastal shapes and motifs.

DIY Shell Garland

This simple summer decor project adds a beautiful texture to the coffee table. It can be made with collected shells from summer vacations or store-bought shells.
The DIY shell garland is inspired by a Pottery Barn garland that cost over $75. However, this one only cost me three dollars to make with $1 bags of shells from Dollar Tree. First, my husband and I used his drill press to drill holes into each shell. Then, I used white yarn and a large embroidery needle to string the shells together. Lastly, I tied a knot in both ends to secure the shells.

Next on the Summer Decor Home Tour is my talented friend, Kristy who is sharing her warm and welcoming porch at KristyMastrandonas.com! She’s an interior designer, so she knows a thing or two about decorating!
