I love to add Christmas charm to most of our shared living areas, including our breakfast room, right off our kitchen. This space is where we usually eat meals, so it is a common place to gather and I like to make it a fun place for the kids.
I love red during holidays because it is such a powerful, festive color. Plus Santa is not the same unless he is in the red suit!
I initially did not want to share this space since we have not remodeled the floors yet, but my goal for 2018 is progress over perfection. We have painted the walls in Sherwin Williams Silvermist and the trim in Behr Pure White. Progress, y’all!
My birthday is in the month of December, so I can always count on my husband for fresh flowers for the table. After many years, he has learned to buy flowers that match my decor. He is a keeper, right?
This room holds several pieces that we have had since the kids were little. Some ornaments were given to the kids by their grandmother and some dishes the kids have used for hot cocoa and cookies for the past 12 years. Now they aren’t so little, but it is hard to part with the memories so I continue to decorate with them.
Our breakfast room table and chairs belonged to my husband’s grandmother. My husband ate many meals from this table in his grandmother’s kitchen. My kids shared this experience too, so we were lucky to keep this in our family after she passed away to remind us of ‘Tata.’ The wood was too dark for my style, so I recently chalk painted it in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in white, available from TheFindery.com.
As a classic rearranger, I just moved the stone top buffet out of this room, back to the dining room, so that I could move in my antique cubby shelf. It is painted and distressed in white chalk paint too. I thought it would be perfect to store our Christmas dishes.
My mother in law and I found this set of vintage Santa mugs and punch bowl at a local antique store near Waco. Yes, it is the one that Joanna shops at! Its called the Cedar Chest Too and its been on the show Fixer Upper!
The Santa dishes reminded me of the one that my husband’s TaTa used at Christmas, so it was dear to my heart. There’s just something nostalgic about vintage christmas decor.
I have a thing for cubbies, I know! I found this one at Hobby Lobby. I used mini clothespins with wooden holiday sweaters to dress up the bins. The backs are magnetic so they stuck right on! I found these clips at Bed Bath and Beyond for $1.
I found this little deer head at Marshalls a few years ago! I just used a small tack to hold the deer head in place. I may have a thing for deer too!
My wooden letter board is available at Krumpetshome.com. Use the code “CUTERTUDOR” to get 10 percent off before Christmas!!! These letter boards are so cool! They come with a set of wooden letters, numbers and symbols that you can place on the trays to create your own sign. You probably can tell my favorite pattern is buffalo check! Its just so classic, simple and transitions to many styles. So when I see it, I have to have it! I just used small tacks to hold the stockings and layered a few banners together.
My husband and I love to bake, so we grabbed a bunch of these tins at the Hobby Lobby after Christmas sale last year. Who can beat 80 percent off sales..? I also stocked up on gift wrap & tags too. These are too cute to store until Christmas, so they fit perfectly here.
I call this my Charlie Brown tree. I found it at a neighborhood garage sale for like $2! I used a set of cookie cutters as ornaments. I just tied them with jute to hang on the tree. The mini tree has been in my son’s room since he was about 2 years old. He is 19.
Directly across from the breakfast table is a bench. I draped a garland across the top and my holiday pillows on the seat. Why must all the holiday pillows be so cute? The striped pillows are from Pottery barn! The holiday pillows are from Marshalls. I just rotate between prints and patterns when I place them on my bench.
This beaded Santa was given to my daughter by her great grandmother several years ago. We always put it out for Christmas to remind us of all the loved ones who are no longer with us. If you are missing your loved ones this time of year, hang in there!
Thanks for stopping by the Cuter Tudor! I hope you found some ideas to make your home a little cuter this holiday season. You can usually find me on Instagram but I also hang out on Facebook and Pinterest too!
