Today, I am sharing some Fall ideas for adding details to place settings and centerpieces for dining room table. One of my favorite things about Fall is bringing natural elements and texture into my home. Therefore, this table is inspired by all the things that I love about Fall, including pumpkin pie!

Centerpieces for Dining Room Table

Typically, a centerpiece for a dining room table consists of a simple floral arrangement or candles placed on a table runner. However, I think that you should decorate your home in a way that you love. Follow, bend or break the rules! I’ve rounded up a few centerpiece ideas to get you started on your Fall decorating. Just for inspiration!

Fresh flowers and greenery in a glass or ceramic vase will always be a good, classic choice. Because I love neutrals, white roses with eucalyptus and ball stems are a Fall favorite. Out of faux stems? Lay a wreath on the table or a pedestal for greenery. Then, add a lantern with candles or a pumpkin. Colorful leaves placed in a glass demijohn is an easy centerpiece for the kitchen island or dining table.

I use trays, pedestals, lanterns and crates for centerpieces for the dining room table, as well. For Fall, seasonal foliage, like Magnolia leaves, bundles of wheat or pinecones and fruit like pumpkins or gourds are a favorite to use. Yes, pumpkins are a fruit. Speaking of pumpkins… fill a crate with a variety of pumpkins or trickle a few down the center of the table. Lastly, a tray filled with wheat, a candle, wood beads and a pumpkin makes an easy centerpiece that typically works on the coffee table. Antique farmhouse has a great selection of wood lanterns and candle sticks.

Decorative Tray Centerpiece

Decorating my home for holidays and seasons is something I enjoy doing to make my home feel welcoming. Therefore, I often style a seasonal tablescape in the formal dining room for weeks at a time. Sometimes my centerpieces can get a little over the top… Consequently, my family is probably dining at the breakfast table in the kitchen. We do use our dining table to host friends and families, but I usually remove any large centerpieces so that we can see one another. That’s where trays or one large vase comes in handy!

For this centerpiece for dining room table, I decorated two wood trays with pumpkins and large pinecones. Then, I wrapped it in a berry garland. These handmade trays, below, are available in three sizes and come in a brown stain, white or grey color From: Susie. They are beautiful as a table centerpiece styled with candles and seasonal decor. Or, the trays can be used functionally with stacks of dishes or desserts on the buffet table.

Place Setting Details

Each place setting includes dishes for dining, flatware, glassware, napkins and placemats or chargers. On special occasions, I like to use placards and small treats for guests. I love to layer a variety of textures onto the table. For Fall, natural fiber plate chargers like rattan, wicker or hyacinth add a beautiful texture at each place setting.

These pumpkin pie cookies are made in a local shop in Waco, Texas. However, there are talented cookie decorators everywhere! With the addition of a name, they become a treat and place card, too. These “I am thankful’ cards are perfect for Thanksgiving whether you use as name cards or a place for guests to share their gratitude.

My favorite place for tabletop decor is Hester and Cook. If you love tablescapes, you have to check them out. It’s another female owned small business with the cutest paper details for your holiday tables. Here are a few place cards from the shop that I love… including the one above. However, they have everything from placemats and table runners to paper napkins, too.

If you love to make fun details for your table, I think you will love this easy DIY to weave yarn on hyacinth plate chargers or make your own berry garland napkin rings for less than $5. Then, check out last year’s Thanksgiving table, here, where I used my Hester and Cook paper decor. Lastly, this table setting how to guide is part of a Fall Blog Hop, and filled with inspiration.
