Easy Tablescape for Easter

Easy Tablescape for Easter

I challenged myself to create two different styles of place settings for an easy tablescape for Easter using the same centerpiece.  Today, I am sharing one of the place settings that feature more neutrals and cool colors.  Tomorrow, I will share how a few inexpensive finds can entirely change the look by adding more color!  Enjoy my styling tips using an easy tablescape for Easter as an example.  Afterwards, I hope you have the confidence to decorate your table for holidays or special events.

Start with a Theme: Unity in Color

Repeating certain colors, shapes, forms (objects like vases) creates unity.  This is why you want to pick a color scheme and use it throughout the space.  I always lean towards using cool colors and neutrals which evoke a sense of calmness.  I love these colors year round but adore them for Spring decor!  This table runner from Pottery Barn really inspired this tablescape.  I love the sweet, natural looking bunnies surrounded by green grass and speckled blue eggs. After inspiration hits, I just search my home for things that will work well for my desired design.

Set the Table: Variety in Texture

The key to using neutral colors is playing with a variety of textures and materials.  Usually, the type of the material plays an important role in the texture.  For example, glass and ceramic products will have a smooth finish, while natural elements like rattan will have a bumpy or woven texture. Using a variety creates visual interest.  In addition, a mix of materials from wood, glass, metal, ceramics and textiles creates a well balanced space.

Classic pieces like white dishes, galvanized chargers and clear glasses are a great base to any tablescape. Here, I started with a galvanized charger.  Then, I added a tri-folded tea towel from Krumpet’s Home Decor as a napkin.  Invest in pieces that can be used in other ways than originally intended.  For instance, I saw these simple tea towels, and I knew that they would work well as napkins on a Spring tablescape. Next, classic white dishes are placed on top.

The bunny ear napkin ring holders are so cute.  They can hold napkins or stand up at each place setting.  Because I like the layered look of these particular napkins under the plates, I opted to use the napkin rings individually. Consequently, I placed blue and white paper napkins in a gingham pattern on top of the salad plate, too.  It adds some color and pattern to the place setting.  Rattan wrapped glasses and ramekins filled with moss and ceramic bunnies.

Shopping Tips

Bunny tea towels and napkin rings are available from Krumpet’s Home Decor.  You can get them or anything else from Krumpet’s Home for 10 % off using code CUTERTUDOR. A set of 6 napkin rings are on sale through April 1 for $26 with free shipping. I usually don’t purchase a lot of themed holiday decor (except Christmas, y’all), but opt for decor pieces that can be used for the entire season. For example, if you are shopping and find a sign with a bunny and it says ‘Happy Easter’ and one that says “Happy Spring,” choose the one that says ‘spring.’  You can use it for months out of the year rather than weeks.  The exception is disposable products like paper goods.z

Design your Centerpiece: Faux Floral Arrangement

Create a centerpiece with one large statement piece or multiples of similar objects.  Here, I did both! Either one will have more impact than too many small things on the table.  What kind of vessels or containers do you have multiples?  Mason jars, copper tea kettles, silver urns or milk glass vases??? I have a collection of white pitchers from The Findery, so I filled them with faux florals.

My tip for using faux florals is to use at least two different types of stems in the vase.  This could be two florals or a floral and greenery stem.  I think using a combination of two or more makes the bouquets look more realistic and filled out.

Then in the center, I placed a moss covered bunny from Homegoods next to two crates of dyed eggs. I laid a green and white wool ball garland from Magnolia Home on the table runner.  It was a fun find from the Little Shop on Bosque… Joanna Gaines’ original storefront where she still sells discount items.
