Before the trick or treaters arrive, you can throw together a fun Halloween party tablescape for friends and family using these tips and a little creativity! Think outside the box when styling a tablescape! I think creativity is more important than budget or rules!
Whether you are hosting an elegant Halloween dinner or a casual meal inspired by Fall, these Halloween party tablescapes include a few basic elements. These are items that I have collected over the years. When I am ready to decorate a table, I have a few options in my decor stash.
For example, start with classic white dishes.
Then, add some coordinating table linens, like a table runner, napkins, or placemats in your color scheme.
Lastly, add a centerpiece! This can be a vase of natural or faux stems, a bowl of pumpkins, or candlesticks with a few Halloween decorations. For example, use miniature signs, word cutouts or jack-0-lanterns.
However, with a few unique changes, you can create a totally different look.
This idea incorporates fall decor like miniature white pumpkins, copper mugs and a vase filled with natural grasses. Use what you have, but then add something that screams ‘boo!’
Decide on a color scheme, then look for items that you own that work within that style. If you are planning ahead, begin collecting items from thrift stores, like brass candlesticks, that can work for many different tablescapes.
Similar to a fall look, use real pumpkins, casual linens, and vintage books as place chargers. Details like halloween themed paper straws and mini skeletons on each place setting make this work for a Halloween party.
Don’t be afraid to mix silver and gold for a whole lot of glam. However, you do want to use a variety of metallic textures from smooth to rough like the sequined table runner.
When styling a table, think about what you have that would work. Often, I search my decor stash for ideas. For example, I had previously painted vintage trays gold and black which worked great as chargers. Small paper bags double to hold silverware and as take home bags for candy.

I love to add an unexpected touch to tablescapes. However, just adding random things to the table can get overwhelming. Therefore, I add whimsical touches to functional parts of the table, like napkins.
