I recently enjoyed a ‘staycation’ in my hometown of Waco, Texas and stayed in the cutest Air Bnb rental, called the Urban Myrtle located less than 300 steps from Magnolia Market and the Silos, deeming it one of the best places to stay in Waco. This rustic cottage has a great location close to dining, shopping, the Silo trolley, and other Waco exhibits. It is a three bedroom, two bath but sleeps up to nine guests comfortably. The outdoor patio, front porch and beautifully decorated living area are great spaces to hang out with friends or family.
Now, let me take you on a tour of the Urban Myrtle, named after the twisted myrtle in the front yard. The Urban Myrtle is owned by David and Lisa Monroe, long time Waco residents and business owners. They have done an incredible job of creating a ‘fixer upper’ style home, while giving new life into an older style house located in downtown Waco. It is actually located on 7th street, next to the ‘shotgun house’ from Fixer Upper Season Three. From some of the original wood flooring to reclaimed wood ceilings and accent walls to the stenciled tile kitchen backsplash, this house is so unique. It is cozy, rustic and a little bit glam, like crystal chandelier and mirrored dresser glam! It is styled comfortably with luxurious bedding, linens and a well stocked kitchen. There are so many unexpected details like ceramic mugs made locally by Black Oak Art, handmade soaps and one of a kind vintage finds. I would put this on your list of places to stay in Waco.
Here, I am looking out the backyard. Again, this house is in such a great location in downtown Waco that you really feel a part of the city!
I had a wonderful time being a ‘tourist’ in my own town while hanging out with other blogger friends. My friend and fellow Wacoan, Jill, blogs at GatheredGraceDecor.com. Jill cooked us a wonderful dinner in this kitchen that we enjoyed on the outdoor patio. Our friend Leslie who blogs at My100yearoldhome.com visited us from California! She is buying a fixer upper in Waco! We also ate at Milo Biscuit Co , which is a few blocks away but within walking distance of the home. I love the BLT and “Sic’em Chicken Sandwich” made with homemade pickles and biscuits from Milo. There is even a bar inside for cocktails! I highly recommend this new Waco restaurant.
The Silos are just a block away and Magnolia Table is only 1.5 miles away from the rental. The great location to downtown is why I think this house is one of the best places to stay in Waco. Here are some pictures from our trip to eat breakfast at Magnolia Table, but I previously wrote at about my first visit in March here.
